The Lark in the Morning World Music and Dance Camp

MENDOCINO, CA – The Lark in the Morning World Music and Dance Camp – an eight day long celebration of music and dance – will be held from July 29 to August 6 in the heart of the Mendocino redwood forest. Each year, there are sessions 24 hours a day, workshops with over 97 instructors, dances, parties and more.

Workshops cater to beginners as well as professionals and one unique aspect of Lark Camp is the great variety of music and dance: Irish, French, Andean, Balkan, Cajun, American, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Latin, African, Swedish, English, Breton and more.

Among the presenters this year are: Chris Caswell on Celtic harp and guerilla music theory; Seamus Egan, an Irish tenor on banjo and mandolin; Marla Fibish on Irish mandolin; Steve Forman on bodhran; Jack Gilder playing Irish music on the anglo system concertina and Irish flute; Peter Heelan on uilleann pipes and reed making; Jeremy Kammerer presenting old time Irish music; Alan Keith on button accordion and Highland bagpipes (all you need is a practice chanter); Richard Mandel on DADGAD Irish guitar; Erin Shrader offers Irish songs and fiddle; John Skelton on Irish flute and Breton music; Cynthia Valenzuela on Celtic and Latin harp; Shirleigh Brannon offers an Irish ceili and step dance workshop; and Janis Reynolds offers an Irish set dancing workshop.
