A Night in November: An Emotionally Charged Play by a Belfast Playwright
VANCOUVER - Dublin-born actor Frank Talbot will be part of the CelticFest celebrations when he presents his amazingly powerful two-and-a-half-hour one man show, entitled A Night In November by Belfast Playwright Marie Jones. Many will remember when Frank presented this rivetting play for the first time in Vancouver to a sold-out, rapt and attentive audience, last May at the Cambrian Hall.
The play is about a soccer match played at Windsor Park in Belfast in 1993 between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Kenneth McAlister attended that match and the hate and bigotry that took place at the match changed his life forever. We see the emotions that Kenneth went through after the match and how his values changed both with his wife, fellow workers and friends.
As quick as you can put on and take off a hat, Frank Talbot can switch from a Belfast accent to a Dublin accent and each are perfectly authentic. A Night In November is an emotionally charged play - the humorous, the sad and the poignant are all there. It's a powerful production that still plays out in your head long after you've seen it and you'd like to see it again.
Get your tickets early for this one night only, sure to be sold-out play. A Night In November will be presented on March 12 at 8 PM at the Tom Lee Music Hall, third floor, 929 Granville Street.
