In Loving Memory of Sean Eviston
VANCOUVER - On February 15, 2005 our beloved Sean moved gently toward heaven. Sean was walking with his dog Kerry in the Blue Pool area of the Killarney National Park on February 13 when the Lord called Sean to his side.

| SEAN EVISTON |
Sean was born in Vancouver October 12, 1965. Proud parents Eddie (Clonmel) and Joan (Killarney) welcomed Sean as their fifth child. Sean’s birth was received with great delight by siblings, Edward, June, Linda and Patrick as Sean’s imminent arrival had been preceded by showers of candy from Mom’s window at Mount St. Joseph’s hospital, with the promise of more to follow.
Sean was baptized at St. Patrick’s Parish in Vancouver. Maurice and Mary Eviston graciously stood as Sean’s Godparents. In Vancouver, Sean attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and Church.
In 1975 Sean and family moved back to Ireland and settled in Killarney. Sean attended school at the Monastery and St. Brendan’s. He later joined his parents and siblings to work in the family hotel in Killarney.
Sean was very active in the local and national Irish community as a volunteer and as an advocate for the preservation of nature. During his life Sean volunteered with the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team, Killarney Nature Conservation Group and was a member of the Killarney Mountaineering Club.
Sean was a passionate advocate for the protection of the Irish Grey Seal population and was a founding member and director of the Irish Seal Sanctuary. Sean was known for his kind and gentle nature. His devotion to family and friends and his willingness to help those in need will always be remembered.
Sean was recently engaged to marry his true love, Anna O’Brien and looked forward to bringing all of the Evistons and O’Learys together with the O’Briens for a celebration in 2005. With his sudden passing, Sean managed to bring everyone together in an expression of love and support in his memory.
Sean was carried from the family home on Countess Road to his funeral mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney by 50 pallbearers. An honor guard was provided for Sean on the final leg of his procession to St. Mary’s Cathedral. Members of the many volunteer organizations that Sean had been associated with throughout his life lined the street and the grounds of St. Mary’s as Sean entered.
Sean’s funeral mass took place on February 18 and was led by Father Patrick Kenny of Galway and concelebrated with Father Kevin McNamara of St. Mary’s, Father Walsh of Countess Road, Killarney and Father Horan of Scartaglen. Sean’s nieces and nephews lovingly participated in the readings. The Eviston family is so grateful to the relatives and friends who traveled so far to say farewell to Sean.
The presence and support of hundreds of Sean’s friends and members of the community was greatly appreciated. Our thanks go out to our clergy for their comforting support and also to the doctors and nurses of Kerry General Hospital in Tralee who assisted Sean in the last hours of this life’s journey.
The sensitive service of O’Shea’s Family Funeral Services was of great support to our family. Sean was laid to rest at the Aghadoe Lawn cemetery overlooking the beautiful lakes and mountains of Killarney that Sean loved so well. Sean’s love for us and our love for him stand eternally.
“I shall pass this way but once, any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Donations in Sean’s memory may be made to the Irish Seal Sanctuary ( www.irishsealsanctuary.ie).
