VANCOUVER - The third annual Danny Burns Memorial "Feed the Hungry Benefit" held on December 12, delivered on its promise to be a great evening of music, mirth and merriment. The event featured some of the best musicians in town and succeeded in raising a very generous $3,800 for the Union Gospel Mission. Heart_felt thanks go out to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event.

Route 66, led by Stan Lewis, started the evening swinging. Anne Lewis sang some great standards with them and Karen Kelm joined in for a few numbers including her witty seasonalized version of Makin’ Whoopi.

The Rogues n’ Tinkers took the stage next and they were joined by Denny Clarke who had just flown in from a gig in Toronto. The BC Regiment Irish Pipes and Drums turned up the volume and excitement. Stone & Sea were joined by guest fiddler Shona LeMottee.

Long_time stalwarts Blackthorn put in a great set. Brian Flanagan shared his solo vocal stylings. Mutiny Gone Overboard, another long_time contributor who have been performing at this event since they were all so young, had the crowd dancing, and The Streels kept them on their feet until the midnight hour.

STEPHANIE AND KEVIN Boggan worked on the door for the Feed the Hungry benefit.

Maurice McElrea, president of the Union Gospel Mission, was accompanied by Dennis Kiffiak, Gift Planning Coordinator, as he shared some kind words of thanks and spoke briefly of his history with the Mission and the services that they provide.

Thanks go out to all the entertainers who gave freely of their time and talent to make the night what it was. Also special thanks to the great team of volunteers including: Kevin and Stephanie Boggan on door reception, Andrew Bissonnette who worked with Cris (Wolf & Hound) and Toby Rogers aka Santa Claus doing prize draw sales. Finally, thanks to Jacquie, who gave generously to the cause, and all the terrific staff at The Wolf & Hound: Peter, Debbie, Christina, Jessica, Cris, Eva and Hamilton.
