The Seattle Gaels are busy planning for the North American Finals September 3-5 in Denver. Gaels Golf
The Seattle Gaels golf tournament is August 8 at the West Seattle Golf Course with tee times starting at 11 AM. It's a four-person scramble at $50 per person, which includes green fees, lunch, and prizes. Hole-in-one prizes include $10,000 cash, plus return airfares, golf clubs, etc., as well as prizes for closest to the hole and longest drives. Team Ireland
Organized by the Seattle Gaels, Ireland's team in the World Cup Seattle soccer tournament, is one of 16 teams that have qualified for the tournament finals on August 20-22 at Fort Dent Park in Tukwila. From that weekend, four teams will qualify for the tournament final to be played in Seahawks' Stadium on August 28. GAA Secondary Competition
The winners of the “home” final of the secondary All-Ireland football competition will travel to Boston to play a North American board team on October 3. The secondary All-Ireland competition is being played in Ireland in July and August, with the final of the competition being played as a curtain raiser to the All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park on August 22.
A special cup, named in honor of former Laois footballer Tommy Murphy, will be presented to the winners. Only certain counties are eligible to participate in the competition, and as of July 4 those counties are: Leitrim, Sligo, Louth, Wicklow, Carlow, Waterford, Tipperary, Clare, Antrim, Fermanagh, Cavan and London.
Round one of the competition is scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 10-11 with the quarter-finals being played on the weekend of July 24-25. The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of August 7 with the "home" final taking place in Croke Park on August 22.
