Franciscan Friars of the Atonement Welcome Profession of Vows by Friar John O’Hara

NEW YORK - Congratulations and very best wishes to Friar John O’Hara, SA, who will take the perpetual profession of his vows with the Franciscan Friars of Atonement at Little Flower Chapel at Graymoor in Garrison, New York on September 18.

John spent a number of years working in Vancouver with Brother Tim at the Door is Open, a drop-in centre located at 381 East Cordova Street. The Franciscan Friars of Atonement are also at work in Richmond at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, located at 4451 Williams Road.

Graymoor is the headquarters of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, which is a Roman Catholic religious community with social, ecumenical and pastoral ministries in the United States, Canada, England, Italy and Japan.

From the time of its foundation by Father Paul Wattson in 1898, reconciliation and healing through AT-ONE-MENT – the unity of men and women with God and one another – has been the mission of the Friars' work and ministries to people of every race, religion, and walk of life.

The social ministries of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement serve the poor, the needy, and the homeless, people living with HIV/AIDS, those in hospitals and prisons, and people seeking recovery from alcoholism and chemical dependency. Their ecumenical ministries brings them in contact with many people of the various Christian churches and other world religions.
