Sunset and Stars: A Gala Celtic Concert on Vancouver Island
SHAWNIGAN LAKE - The Pacific Institute of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts will present the Sunset and Stars Gala Celtic Concert on July 22 as part of their summer school and concert series.
This special outdoor concert will be held at the rugby field of Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island, British Columbia (rain or shine). Gates open at 6 PM and show starts at 7 PM. Shawnigan Lake School is approximately a 40 minute drive north from Victoria and 50 minutes south from Nanaimo.
This Sunset and Stars is a rare showcase of performances by the over two dozen internationally-acclaimed instructors of the CeltFest Summer School, all world-class champions and recording artists in their fields.
The concert will feature the exciting talent of the Pierre Schryer of Ontario a 2004 Juno Nominee and one of Canada's hottest fiddlers, along with his band. Also featured will be Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt of Sechelt, B.C. at delightful harpist and singer and two times Juno winner.
René Cusson of Nanaimo, B.C. is a world-renowned Celtic composer and piper and Eileen McGann of Mill Bay, B.C. is one of Canada's major folk talents who headlines at festivals everywhere and was a 2002 Juno Nominee. Martin Nolan from Dublin is a renowned uilleann piper and whistle player and he is also featured at folk festivals all over the world.
