René and Carolyn Cusson are the principals behind the program and it has been their dream to run a piping and dancing summer camp since they first met as teenagers at the Nelson Highland Games in 1975.
“It has long been our dream to present a Celtic music and dancing summer camp. In this, our third year, we are again welcoming students from all over the world. Our heartfelt thanks to all those who have come forward volunteering their time, talents and energies in order to make this dream happen. We have attempted to structure this school to provide you with optimal learning in all areas.”
René has been very known in the piping community over the years, and is particularly celebrated as director, Pipe Major, and composer. His compositions are played all over the world; perhaps his best known is the 6/8 March, Bruce Gandy's Farewell to the Iron Horse.
Carolyn has won many titles in Highland dancing, including Eastern Canada Highland Dancing Champion, Great Lakes Champion, runner-up B.C. Champion, and Canadian Interprovincial Champion. She ran a dancing studio for 15 years, and during that time, taught many top dancers in the province and the country.
