Scottish Gaelic Camp Offers Three-Day Language Intensive

SEATTLE - You may have seen them waulking a tweed while singing in Gaelic at Folklife over Memorial Weekend or passed by their booth at one of the Highland Games in the beautiful Northwest over the summer.

Slighe nan Gaidheal (Seattle's Scottish Gaelic Society) will be conducting a three-day language intensive at the beginning and intermediate levels, with special activities for children, with native speakers Rosemary McCormack and Maureen Lyon as instructors.

Rosemary McCormack is a native speaker from South Uist. She is an experienced educator with special interests in songs and teaching children as well as adults. She will be instructing the beginners, plus a half-day with children.

Maureen Lyon is a native speaker from the island of Lewis now living in British Columbia. She is a popular teacher at Slighe nan Gaidheal classes and is making a welcome return for Gaelic Camp. She will be instructing the intermediates, as well as spending some time with the children.

The teen and adult program will be held on August 26-28 from 10 AM to 4 PM and the children's program will be held on August 27 from 10 AM to 4 PM.
