One-Man Show Presented to an Attentive and Rapt Audience
VANCOUVER - On May 29 at the Cambrian Hall, Dublin-born actor Frank Talbot held an attentive and rapt audience with his two-and-a-half-hour, amazing and powerful one-man-show A Night In November, by Belfast Playwright Marie Jones.
The play is about a soccer match played at Windsor Park in Belfast in 1993 between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Kenneth McAlister attended that match and the hate and bigotry that took place at the match changed his life forever.
Actor Frank Talbot, led us through the emotions that Kenneth McAlister went through after the match and how his values changed both with his wife, fellow workers and friends. We felt the same freedom and excitement that he felt as he drove to Dublin to meet up with his fellow Irishmen and the journey to New York to the World Cup. It was an emotional charged play the humorous, the sad and the poignant were all there.
Frank Talbot has an amazing talent to switch from a Belfast to a Dublin accent in an instant, to say nothing of remembering all those lines in a two-and-a-half-hour show. A Night In November is a thought-provoking play that still plays out in your head long after you have seen it and you'd like to see it again.
