Special Irish Mass on St. Patrick's Day

VANCOUVER - On the evening of March 17, the Feast of St. Patrick, a special mass in the Irish language was offered at, St. Pius X Church in North Vancouver. The main celebrant for the mass was Father Anthony Boniface, who said the mass in the Irish language. He was accompanied by, Father John Brioux O.M.I., Pastor of St. Augustine's Parish and the Rev. Msg. Pedro Lopez-Gallo P.A., Pastor of St. Pius X Parish.

The mass was organized by John O’Flynn and Marie Morris and after the mass a social was held in the parish hall with proceeds going to the works of St. Pius X Parish and the Celtic Society of Canada, an Irish benevolent fund. In total $600 dollars was collected with $250 to the Parish and $350 to the benevolent fund.

Because of the great response to this first mass in the Irish language, consideration is being give to other Irish masses at special Irish feast days throughout the year. Watch The Celtic Connection for more information on mass dates.
